Arneis grapes grow on sandy soils and are used to produce this Piedmontese white wine from the Marziano Abbona winery: Arneis is the king of Roero white wines and is characterised by an intense aroma and pleasant taste. After the grapes are harvested by hand, they are destemmed, crushed and macerated on the skins for 18 hours. After racking and soft pressing, static decanting and disgorging are carried out with the aid of selected yeasts. Once alcoholic fermentation in steel has taken place for 13 days, the wine is aged on the lees for about a month. Ageing takes place in steel until bottling, after which the wine rests for another 2 months in the bottle before being released for sale.
Characteristics of this Piedmont wine
It has a bright yellow colour with golden reflections: the bouquet is reminiscent of peach and apricot, as well as vegetal notes. Soft on the palate, it impresses with its acidic, fresh and savoury finish, given by the sandy soils from which it originates.
Recommended pairings with this white wine
Try it as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to fish dishes: linguine with squid ink, mixed fried fish, steamed fish appetisers. Also excellent with fresh cheeses. Serve at a temperature of 8-12°C.
