Nero d'Avola di Feudo Arancio was born in the Sambuca area of Sicily, in the province of Agrigento, an area suited to viticulture thanks to well-drained soil and a warm climate but mitigated by breezes. The grapes, harvested when they reach full phenolic ripeness in the first week of September, are destemmed and subjected to alcoholic fermentation with maceration on the skins for a few days at a controlled temperature between 22 and 24 °C. This process allows a balanced extraction of color, aromas and structure. The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation with the help of selected bacteria and is aged for several months in French oak and steel barriques, thus achieving a balance between softness, freshness, and aromatic complexity.
Characteristics of this Sicilian wine
In the calyx it has an intense ruby red color, enriched with purple reflections. The bouquet is wide and fruity, with evident notes of currant, wild strawberry and pomegranate that give immediacy and aromatic recognizability. On the palate it is distinguished by a soft and velvety structure, with tannins present but well integrated that support the sip without weighing it down. The fruity component also remains the protagonist in the mouth, accompanied by a pleasant freshness that makes the drink flowable and balanced.
Recommended pairings with this red wine from Cantina Feudo Arancio
It's a versatile red wine, ideal paired with flavorful first courses like baked pasta and risottos, as well as red meats, lamb, and grilled dishes. It also pairs very well with traditional Sicilian cuisine, such as pasta alla Norma, and with mature cheeses with a strong taste. The recommended service temperature is between 16 and 18 °C, so as to best enhance its structure and fruity expression.
