Description du vin

Franz Haas' Sofi Schiava is made from Schiava grapes grown in the vineyards of South Tyrol, on gravelly soils of moraine origin and at medium altitude, where the cool climate and strong temperature variations favor the aromatic fineness. The harvest is manual and the grapes are destemmed before fermentation, which takes place in temperature-controlled steel. After alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for a few months, always in steel tanks, thus maintaining its fruity fragrance and the typical lightness of the grape variety intact.

 

Characteristics of this South Tyrolean wine

It appears to be a light and luminous ruby red color. The olfactory profile is immediate and fragrant, with notes of cherry, redcurrant and blueberry, accompanied by slight hints of bitter almond and cocoa. In the mouth it is agile, smooth and highly drinkable, with very delicate tannins and a low acidity that makes it harmonious and convivial. The sip is simple only in appearance, because it hides a pleasant aromatic complexity and a fresh, slightly almondy closure.

 

Recommended pairings with this Franz Haas red wine

It is an extremely versatile wine, designed for the daily table but capable of accompanying even the most refined cuisine. It pairs well with cured meats, tomato or herb first courses, white meats such as chicken and turkey, but also with tasty fish or light preparations of Mediterranean cuisine. It also finds a good balance with fresh or short-aged cheeses. The ideal serving temperature is between 14 and 16 °C, so as to enhance its fragrance without losing its natural freshness.
