Franz Haas' Petit Manseng is an aromatic and structured white wine, born from the winery's interest in particular and less common grape varieties in South Tyrol. As for production, the grapes of Petit Manseng come from vineyards located in low hills, between approximately 220 and 320 meters above sea level, on alluvial soils composed of sand, silt and gravel. The vineyards are raised in Guyot and are characterized by sparse clusters with small grapes and thick skins, elements that favor aromatic concentration. After the harvest, fermentation takes place in barriques, where the wine remains to refine for about ten months before bottling and a further rest in the bottle. This wooden winemaking helps give structure and complexity to the wine, while maintaining a good basic freshness.
Characteristics of this South Tyrolean wine
From an organoleptic point of view, it has a bright straw yellow colour. The olfactory profile is very intense and rich, with notes of ripe fruit and dried fruit, candied citrus and exotic nuances, accompanied by a strong mineral imprint that can also recall almost sulphurous aromas. In the mouth it is a wine of character, savoury and structured, supported by a good acidity that balances its richness and lengthens its persistence. The sip is full, creamy and very continuous, with a long and complex finish.
Recommended pairings with this Franz Haas wine
