This Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC from Cantina Cascina del Colle comes from the vineyards of Villamagna near Chieti, facing south/south-east and located at an altitude of 200 metres above sea level. The grapes used are 100% Montepulciano, grown on sandy-clay soils with a yield of 120 quintals per hectare. The vinification process involves brief maceration on the skins for 8-9 days in temperature-controlled steel tanks, followed by a final ageing phase of 4 months.
Characteristics of this Abruzzo wine
It has a ruby red colour and a fruity bouquet: blackberry and blueberry in particular, but also floral notes. On the palate, it has a delicate flavour and a slightly fruity finish.
Recommended pairings with this Abruzzo red wine
Try it with meat-based first and second courses and cheeses: roasts, stews, medium-aged cheeses. Serve at a temperature of 18-20°C.
