Produced only in the best vintages, Il Plozza IGT is made from Nebbiolo grapes grown on centuries-old vines: the bunches are left to dry in crates for three months before pressing. The ageing phase is particularly important, taking place in wood for twenty-four months, ten in a first barrique and fourteen in a second barrique. This so-called “200% barrique method” is particularly effective with grapes of the highest quality and gives the wine very intense toasted aromas.
Characteristics of this Plozza wine
It has a particularly intense red colour. The bouquet is reminiscent of dried violets and ripe fruit, as well as notes of tobacco and leather. It is powerful on the palate, with a nice tannic finish.
Recommended pairings with this red wine
It pairs perfectly with game dishes, stewed red meats, polenta taragna and pizzoccheri. Serve at a temperature of 20-22°C.
