GIOVANNI ROSSO
The Giovanni Rosso Winery is a historic family business in the Langhe, located in Serralunga d'Alba, in the heart of the Barolo area. The Rosso family's origins in the world of wine date back to the end of the 19th century, but it was above all from the ’80s that the company made a decisive qualitative leap, when Giovanni Rosso began a profound restructuring of his own vineyards, aiming for the maximum expression of terroir. Today, the winery is led by the fourth generation, with Davide Rosso as winemaking director, and stands out for its production philosophy, strongly tied to the identity of the area. The central idea is that wine should be a faithful translation of the place from which it originates, without forcing, valorizing the differences between individual crus. The vineyards are located in some of Serralunga d'Alba's most prestigious mountain ranges, such as Cerretta, La Serra, and especially the famous Vignarionda, considered one of the most iconic expressions of Barolo. One of the winery's special features is its management by parcels: each vineyard is vinified separately to preserve its specific characteristics. This approach allows for the production of deeply territorial wines, with different profiles even within the same appellation. Viticulture is based on respect for the soil and sustainability, with careful agronomic practices and very precise work in the vineyard, where yields are kept low to increase quality and concentration. Stylistically, the winery is recognized for a classic yet very rigorous approach: long fermentations, the use of indigenous yeasts, and significant wood refinements, with the aim of preserving the wines' structure, fineness, and aging capacity. Barolo represents the heart of production, alongside other expressions of Nebbiolo and wines that reflect the diverse souls of Langhe. In recent years, the company's philosophy has expanded beyond Piedmont, with projects in the volcanic areas of Mount Etna, where the family has found further expression to interpret the concept of terroir in a different way, always maintaining centrality, purity, and identity. Today Giovanni Rosso is considered one of the most representative wineries of contemporary Barolo in Serralunga d'Alba, capable of combining tradition, technical precision, and a strong understanding of the area, with wines recognizable for their elegance, depth, and longevity.
