Description du vin

This great wine of the Rainoldi winery is produced by Nebbiolo grapes, locally called Chiavennasca coming from the “Dossi Salati”, which are the Grumello vines at the most important altitude. The south exposition and the sandy-gravel ground permit to obtain wonderful wines characteristics for their mineral tastes. The Grumello Riserva fermentation starts with the maceration under temperature control, with regular pumping over and punching-down every 4/5 days. It follows the natural malolactic fermentation until spring time. The aging starts in new French oak barrels for about 16 months and it follows 4 months in stainless steel tanks before being bottled. Finally in bottles for 2 years kept in fresh and dark cellars before being commercialized.

 

Characteristics of the Valtellina Superiore Riserva Grumello Docg wine

These wines are an example for future years. The Grumello Riserva of the Rainoldi winery has an intense ruby red color. The scent has an aromatic bouquet of black cherry in alcohol, of violet and licorice. There is also a remarkable aroma of fruit salad with wide and penetrating scents. The taste is dry, enveloping, complex and persistent.

This red wine of the Rainoldi winery is perfect with red meats and aged cheeses. It has to be served between the 16-18°C in Ballon or Grand Ballon wine glasses which permits the oxygenation and the diffusion of the scents of this fantastic red wine Grumello.
