Wine description

The main goal of Alois Lageder winery is to preserve the tradition of Lagrein rosé, also known as Lagrein Kretzer, to give him a future. Its ancient German denomination derives from Kretze, an old sieve to extract grape juice. Analysing the characteristics of the variety we find grapes with peels full of tannin and colour. That is the main reason why the maceration period is really brief, to give the wine a lighter tone. Lageder choose for this product a single variety wine making 100% Lagrein. The grapes come from selected vineyards cultivated around Bolzano, Gries and Ora, where the elevation swings between 230-300 meters on the sea level. The soil has alluvial origin and are composed mainly by sand. Often, the vines that produce this wine are 53 years old. The harvest is in September and can last also till the first week of October, depending on the years and on the maturation level of the grapes. The soft pressing phase is followed by a first fermentation at controlled temperature in steel containers. Then an aging of at least 4 months concludes the wine making process. This Rosé is rich of fruity hints that can be preserved thank to its white wine making in steel, that allows the maintenance of its features rich of freshness. Excellent wine, suitable for every situation, complex and dynamic, fresh and balanced.
