The Lacrima di Morro d'Alba Superiore “Querciantica” DOC from Cantina Velenosi is one of the most intense and elegant interpretations of this historic native grape variety from the Marche region. The grapes come from vineyards located in the hills around Morro d'Alba, in the province of Ancona, an area characterized by clay soils and a climate tempered by the proximity of the Adriatic Sea, ideal conditions to promote the full aromatic ripening of Lacrima. The harvest is done manually with careful selection of the best bunches. After destemming, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with a long maceration on the skins, aimed at extracting color, structure and aromatic complexity. The wine then undergoes a period of aging in wood and bottles, which helps enrich its balance and depth of taste.
Characteristics of this wine from Cantina Velenosi
On organoleptic examination it appears with an intense and deep ruby red color, with purplish reflections. The bouquet is large and very distinctive, dominated by intense floral notes of violet mammola and rose petals, combined with hints of ripe cherry, blackberry, plum and light spicy and balsamic nuances. On the palate it is warm, soft and structured, with velvety and well-integrated tannins. The freshness and savouriness support the sip making it harmonious and persistent, with an elegant and aromatic finish that fully recalls the peculiarities of the Lacrima grape variety.
Recommended pairings with this red wine from the Marche region
This wine pairs perfectly with flavorful cured meats, first courses with meat ragù, roasts, grilled red meats and light game. Also excellent with aged cheeses and spiced preparations of Mediterranean cuisine. The ideal serving temperature is between 16 and 18 °C, so as to enhance its aromatic intensity, structure and taste elegance.
