Weinbeschreibung

The Brunello di Montalcino Poggio all’Oro Riserva is produced with the grapes coming from the “Poggio all’Oro” vineyard perfect for its microclimate located in the south side of the Montalcino hills. The soils are located at 250 meters above the sea level and it has a light brown olive color with marl, limestone and rocks. The grapes used for the production of the Brunello Poggio all’Oro DOCG are Sangiovese grapes at 100% and carefully selected. The cultivation method is the cordon spur pruning and the density is 2100 trees per hectare and the profit 40 quintal per hectare. This wine is made only during the best years. It is called “excellent” and it is remarked by 5 stars for the careful selection of the grapes. The maceration takes place under temperature control in steel and horizon wooden barrels for 12-14 days. It matures in barrels for 2 years and half and further 12-18 months in bottle before being commercialized.

 

Characteristics of the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Riserva Poggio all'Oro

It has an intense ruby red color with garnet reflections after a long aging period. The smell is intense and enveloping, but also fruity and spicy with tobacco and chocolate hints. The taste is full, austere, velvety and tannic.

 

Suggested pairings with this great Brunello di Montalcino Banfi Riserva Poggio all'Oro

It is perfect with red meats, game and aged cheeses. It can be aged for long time. It must be served at 18°C in a wide wine glass.
